RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: This research aims to explore the expression levels of microRNA (miRNA)-300/BCL-2-like protein 11 (BCL2L11) and their values in the clinical diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). METHODS: Pathological tissues that were surgically removed for thyroid disease were selected. miR-300 and BCL2L11 expression levels in the samples were measured. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted to analyze miR-300 and BCL2L11 predictive values for PTC. Upon silencing miR-300 and silencing BCL2L11 in PTC cells, the corresponding miR-300 and BCL2L11 expression levels were tested, followed by examining PTC cell activities. The targeting relationship of miR-300 and BCL2L11 was detected by the bioinformatics website and luciferase activity assay. RESULTS: miR-300 expression levels were elevated and BCL2L11 expression levels were reduced in PTC tissues. miR-300 and BCL2L11 expression levels in PTC tissues had a correlation with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. The results of ROC curve revealed that both miR-300 and BCL2L11 had clinical predictive values for PTC. Mechanistically, miR-300 negatively regulated BCL2L11. The functional assays unveiled that silencing miR-300 impeded PTC cell activities, and silencing BCL2L11 induced PTC cell activities. In the rescue experiment, silencing BCL2L11 reversed the impacts of silencing miR-300 on PTC cell development. CONCLUSION: This study underlines that miR-300 expression is increased and BCL2L11 expression is declined in PTC. miR-300 and BCL2L11 both have clinical predictive values for diagnosing PTC.

RESUMO

Reviews of songs play an important role in online music service platforms. Prior research shows that users can make quicker and more informed decisions when presented with meaningful song reviews. However, reviews of songs are generally long in length and most of them are non-informative for users. It is difficult for users to efficiently grasp meaningful messages for making decisions. To solve this problem, one practical strategy is to provide tips, i.e., short, concise, empathetic, and self-contained descriptions about songs. Tips are produced from song reviews and should express non-trivial insights about the songs. To the best of our knowledge, no prior studies have explored the tip generation task in music domain. In this paper, we create a dataset named MTips for the task and propose a learning-to-generate framework named GenTMS for automatically generating tips from song reviews. The dataset involves 8,003 Chinese tips/non-tips from 128 songs which are distributed in five different song genres. Experimental results show that GenTMS achieves top-10 precision at 85.56%, outperforming the baseline models by at least 3.34%. Besides, to simulate the practical usage of our proposed framework, we also experiment with previously-unseen songs, during which GenTMS also achieves the best performance with top-10 precision at 78.89% on average. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework in tip generation of the music domain.

RESUMO

Background: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of lateral cervical region (LCR) lymphadenectomy as a preventative procedure for stage CN0 papillary thyroid cancer (PTC).Methods: From December 2019 to October 2021, 108 patients with CN0 stage PTC hospitalized to our general surgery department were recruited. After analysis, the clinical data of these patients were separated into two groups: 57 cases were in the Surgical + lymphatic dissection group and 51 instances were in the surgical group. Total thyroidectomy with central node dissection (TTCD) was carried out on the surgical group, whereas intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) for prophylactic LCR lymph nodes dissection was carried out on the basis of TTCD in the Surgical + lymphatic dissection group. The postoperative complications, cervical lymph node metastases and recurrent reoperation were analyzed in both groups. Results: In the Surgical + lymphatic dissection group, the rate of lymph node metastasis (LNM) identified by IOUS in the LCR of PTC was 29.82% (17/57). In the central group with >2 lymph node metastases compared to the central group with < 2 lymph node metastases, the rate of LCR LNM was considerably greater (20% vs. 43%). Between the two groups, there was no statistically significant difference in the frequency of postoperative complications (P > 0.05). At the 1-year postoperative follow-up, the recurrence rate in the surgical group was 13.73%, whereas there was no recurrence in the Surgical + lymphatic dissection group. Conclusions: The recurrence/reoperation rate of PTC in individuals with stage CN0 can be decreased by IOUS guided prophylactic lymph node dissection in the LCR.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To review the diagnosis of chronic wound biofilms and discuss current treatment approaches. DATA SOURCES: Articles included in this review were obtained from the following databases: Wanfang, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, PubMed, and the Web of Science. We focused on research published before August 2019 with keywords including chronic wound, biofilm, bacterial biofilms, and chronic wound infection. STUDY SELECTION: Relevant articles were selected by carefully reading the titles and abstracts. Further, different diagnosis and clinical treatment methods for chronic wound biofilm were compared and summarized from the selected published articles. RESULTS: Recent guidelines on medical biofilms stated that approaches such as the use of scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy are the most reliable types of diagnostic techniques. Further, therapeutic strategies include debridement, negative pressure wound therapy, ultrasound, antibiotic, silver-containing dressing, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and others. CONCLUSION: This review provides the identification and management of biofilms, and it can be used as a tool by clinicians for a better understanding of biofilms and translating research to develop best clinical practices.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the sexual experience of Chinese patients with ostomy and associated factors. DESIGN: A prospective descriptive study using self-report questionnaires. SUBJECTS AND SETTING: Seventy-five Chinese participants who underwent ostomy surgery in a large cancer specialist hospital in the Hunan province between 2008 and 2013. METHODS: Data were collected face-to-face by the investigators in an outpatient setting from 75 participants who completed the Arizona Sexual Experience Inventory Scale (ASEX). The t test was used to compare variances between sexual function and dysfunction subgroups. A multiple linear regression model was used to analyze factors influencing sexual life after ostomy surgery. RESULTS: The mean ASEX score was 20.56 (5.378) years, which is higher than the standard for sexual dysfunction. The main subsection of sexual dysfunction included sexual arousal, orgasm ability, vaginal lubrication/penile erection, and sexual satisfaction. Significant differences in the ASEX score were observed in subgroups of age, gender, educational level, family relations, operation modes, stoma type, operation time, complications, supporters, self-care ability, and sexual life guidance. Multiple stepwise regression analysis indicated that family relations, operation modes, ostomy type, complications, and sexual life guidance affected sexual experience. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study demonstrate that patients with ostomy experience sexual dysfunction and many factors influence their quality of sexual life. WOC nurses and other healthcare providers should consider providing sexual health education for both the patient and spouse to improve the self-care capacity and quality of sexual life following ostomy surgery.
